This annual event for the club is happening a bit earlier this year, on Sunday June 25th, organised by Dave Jones and Richard Green. PEER PADDLE.

We are looking for at least 4 open canoes (with 2nd paddler or passenger) and 6 to 8 kayaks to assist this fabulous, charity event.

In exchange for tea and cake, SCC members play the very enjoyable role of chasing and collecting about 800 small yellow plastic ducks after they've been released from the old bridge at Atcham, as part of the Atcham summer fete on Sunday 25th June.
We're given special car access to the field upstream of the bridges to assemble from 2pm, and then paddle down under the bridges to await the release of the ducks at about 3pm. There's about an hour of frenetic paddling to make sure that none of the ducks go any further downstream.

By the time the ducks are returned in bags to the organisers, and we're out of the water and have wandered down to the fete, it's about 4.30; tea, cake and chat on the river bank hopefully in the sun, and we're finished by 5.

It's early notice, but Dave and I would like to know if there are enough members out there who want to join in this bit of silliness. A reasonable level of competence is needed to catch ducks and at the same time keep out of overhanging trees, especially if there is a good flow.

Non paddlers can be useful though, up front in the open boats receiving ducks from the kayak paddlers, and on shore, getting the ducks back into their nets at the end.
